About ME
MOM, ADVOCATE, EXPERT
My son, John, had severe language delays and continues to have special needs. From struggling to form sounds to now having clear communication, I had to move mountains to get him the services he needed to thrive educationally.
No family should have to go through such Herculian efforts to see their child succeed. If we better manage our resources, empower good teachers, and assess the system from a new perspective we can better meet students’ needs.
I will use my experience and expertise to advocate for all students. We can do better for Brevard. With your help that can begin August 23rd.
Courtney Lewis

Let's Connect
Courtney loves to connect with other local parents. She encourages anyone to reach out to talk, share thoughts, and ask questions. Courtney truly believes it takes the entire community to see schools thrive!

IT TAKES EXPERTISE
Brevard Public Schools has a more than $1 BILLION budget and is the largest employer in the county. That requires more than classroom experience, it takes expertise.
COURTNEY HAS:
- A Business Management Degree
- Balanced Multi-Million Dollar Budgets
- Employee Management Experience
COURTNEY IS:
- A businesswoman, she owns Kelsey’s and Jack and Harry’s in Merritt Island
- A School Board member at her son’s school
- A 4th Generation Floridian

SCHOOLS AT A GLANCE
- Only 30% of Brevard 8th graders have satisfactory or above math scores.
- An average of 29% reading proficiency among 3rd graders in District 2.
- We have made ZERO overall improvement in state scores since 2015.
Courtney Will Fight For:
OPPORTUNITY
Education should not be one size fits all. From choice schools to a variety of vocational programs, more options mean more opportunities for families.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Outcomes can improve when resources are managed in a way that is transparent, does not burden taxpayers, and supports good teachers.
CIVILITY
Parents, students, and the community are all crucial stakeholders in education. Each should have a voice in the process and should be treated with respect.
COURTNEY BELIEVES...
- The key to a child’s educational success is the positive involvement of their parent.
- Schools are a place for learning, not political agendas.
- If children cannot read, they cannot succeed to the best of their ability.
- Education should not be one size fits all.
- We must get back to basics to ensure our students are competitive in today’s increasingly global economy.

PARENTS, EDUCATORS, AND LEADERS AGREE COURTNEY IS THE CHANGE WE NEED.
